Quintessa first appeared in Transformers: The Last Knight as the primary villain. She asserts that she created the Cybertronians and refers to herself as the “Prime of Life.” She manipulates Optimus Prime into carrying out her plans, something Megatron was never able to achieve. Notably, she also revives Galvatron after Lockdown is defeated, restoring him to his former identity as Megatron. Throughout the film, Megatron acts as one of Quintessa’s followers.
Using the Staff of Merlin, Quintessa demonstrates the ability to drain energy from Earth’s core and send it to Cybertron, which would heal Cybertron but destroy Earth in the process. She also proves to be stronger than Optimus Prime, surviving their final battle and immediately beginning to revive Unicron.
2. Unicron
I was absolutely blown away by Unicron in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts! He’s this unbelievably powerful, ancient being – a Cybertronian god of chaos and destruction. It’s crazy to think he’s Primus’s twin, but also his ultimate enemy. He reminded me a bit of Galactus, honestly, just consuming entire planets to keep going. And Mirage wasn’t kidding when he said Unicron was ‘way bigger than a planet’! Seeing him actually eat the Maximals’ homeworld on screen was terrifying and epic – a truly unforgettable villain.
If Unicron had broken through, he would have destroyed Earth and all the Transformers. The only way to defeat him was to prevent his arrival. He seemed unstoppable at the movie’s end, as no Transformer on Earth was powerful enough to defeat him. However, when Optimus Prime shattered the Transwarp Key, he ensured Unicron could never return.
Thankfully, Unicron is an incredibly powerful enemy, able to travel between dimensions. He’s not only massive – bigger than any Transformer and capable of devouring entire planets – but he can also transform into a robot and engage in direct combat. He even has the power to bring beings back from the dead and unleash devastating energy blasts from his eyes. No Transformer on Earth stands a chance against him, not even slowing him down.
1. Primus
Primus is the most powerful being in the Transformers universe, even more so than Megatron, Optimus Prime, and Unicron. He is Cybertron – both the planet and the original spirit who gave the Matrix of Leadership to Orion Pax, transforming him into Optimus Prime. Essentially, Primus is the creator god of all Transformers, having given up his own life energy to become Cybertron. Every Transformer’s unique spark of life, including Megatron’s, originates from him.
Primus originally created the Matrix of Leadership, and because Optimus Prime possesses it, he’s significantly more powerful than most other Transformers. This power is what ultimately allows him to defeat Megatron. Without the Matrix, Megatron would have a much better chance in a fight. All of this stems from Primus’s power, as Optimus Prime essentially carries out his will.
Primus has a twin brother named Unicron, who embodies destruction. Primus, in contrast, represents creation. In the movie Transformers One, Primus recognizes Orion Pax’s potential and gives him the Matrix, empowering Optimus Prime to defeat Megatron and banish him from Iacon. Interestingly, Primus actually created Megatron, and is the planet where Megatron originated – making him a godlike figure, and Megatron just one of his many Transformer creations.
