Having watched the first part of the season, I can say it’s much more impactful when viewed as a TV show because the format allows us to see the story unfold from multiple viewpoints. It takes a few episodes to really kick in, but it’s definitely coming!

It Strengthens Grover And Luke’s Storylines This Season
I also discussed this part of the show with some of the actors from Percy Jackson. Aryan Simhadri, who plays Grover, shared his thoughts on how Thalia was introduced, and here’s what he said:
What really grabbed me about this series is finally seeing what life was like for her while she was on the run. I always wondered about that part when I first read the book – what were the challenges, how did she even get Aegis, and what was the whole story behind everything? Getting to witness that journey firsthand isn’t just great storytelling, it actually deepens our understanding of the characters and their relationships, especially how I interact with Thalia in the later seasons. It really helps build out the world and makes it feel so much richer.
Charlie Bushnell, who plays Luke, also chimed in. In his words:
Experiencing it firsthand is much more impactful. It’s like the difference between hearing about a car crash and actually witnessing one – hearing about it is sad, but seeing it is shocking. Similarly, understanding what it was like to be a young, self-reliant demigod constantly struggling to survive was incredibly difficult. Life on the road was truly harsh.
