El mandaloriano & Explicación de los villanos de Grogu: imperiales, hutts y más

¡Advertencia! Esta publicación contiene SPOILERS de The Mandalorian & grogu

Como crítico, he disfrutado muchísimo The Mandalorian & Grogu.

The story of The Mandalorian & Grogu begins with Commander Barro, an Imperial leader hiding out on a frozen planet that strongly resembles Hoth from The Empire Strikes Back.

Barro was shaking down local leaders for protection money when Din Djarin and Grogu arrived, having been hired to capture him. A fierce battle ensued, with Din Djarin destroying several of Barro’s snowtroopers and three massive AT-AT walkers. The scene culminates with Din Djarin using the cannon of a remaining AT-AT to blast Barro’s ship, an INT-4 Interceptor, out of the sky as he tried to escape – a ship originally based on a vintage Kenner toy now officially part of the Star Wars story.

Hemky Madera plays Commander Barro, a character first seen in season 3 of The Mandalorian as part of the Imperial Shadow Council. This group is made up of powerful warlords secretly working together to rebuild the Empire, and their plans center around the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who recently came back from exile in the 2023 series Ahsoka.

However, The Mandalorian & Grogu builds on this by revealing how the New Republic is starting to understand the full power of the remaining Imperial forces. It also demonstrates that each warlord Din Djarin defeats may actually be making the Republic’s job harder.

In addition, Jonny Coyne appears in The Mandalorian & Grogu as Lord Janu Coin. As a member of the Imperial Shadow Council in season 3 of The Mandalorian, Lord Janu controls both a major criminal organization and what’s left of an Imperial force from the moons of Shakari.

Lord Janu pretended to be a powerful crime boss and was funding Rotta, Jabba the Hutt’s son, as a star gladiator. However, Din Djarin discovered that Janu was actually Commander Coin, another warlord he’d been sent to eliminate. Once captured, it was revealed that Janu had been providing vital information about The Mandalorian and Grogu’s enemies – the Hutts.

Who Are The Twins? Hutt History & Jabba Connections Explained

Although powerful warlords create the main conflicts across the galaxy in the story, the central villains of The Mandalorian & Grogu are a pair of Hutt siblings, simply known as the Twins.

The Twins, who first appeared in The Book of Boba Fett, are relatives of the late Jabba the Hutt. They’re trying to take over his old criminal organization after he died in Return of the Jedi. Although they couldn’t take Jabba’s palace on Tatooine from Boba Fett, they are now shown ruling from a palace on their home planet, Nal Hutta.

The Twins first tell Din Djarin they’ll share information about Commander Coin if he rescues Rotta the Hutt. However, their real plan is to eliminate Rotta, the last of Jabba’s family, so they can become the undisputed leaders of the Hutt Syndicate.

After Din learns the truth about the betrayal – revealed by Rotta himself – he refuses to give Jabba’s son over to the Twins. Enraged, they put a bounty on Din’s head, hiring another bounty hunter to capture him. Once Din is caught, the Twins shamefully remove his helmet, a deeply sacred act forbidden by the ancient Mandalorian code. Luckily, Grogu rescues Din, and together they return to the palace to save Rotta and defeat the Twins.

In the final part of the movie, the Twins suffer a grim fate, devoured by the very dragon snake they attempted to trick with Djarin. Also, when New Republic forces arrive to save Djarin, Grogu, and Rotta, Aldelphi Squadron destroys the entire Nal Hutta fortress.

As a huge Star Wars fan, it’s really interesting to think about what happens next with the Hutts. With Jabba’s sons gone and Rotta not wanting anything to do with the family business, the New Republic basically going after any remaining Hutts could have huge consequences. Honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if this finally brought the entire Hutt Syndicate crashing down, ending their reign as a major power in the galaxy’s criminal world during this new era.

Embo & The Droid Gotra Work For The Twins (The Perfect Enemies For Din Djarin)

Embo first appeared in the Clone Wars animated series. He’s a famous Kyuzo bounty hunter hired by the Twins to capture Din Djarin. He’s known for his distinctive metal hat, which he uses as both protection and a powerful, long-distance weapon – similar to Captain America’s shield. Interestingly, the language Embo speaks was actually created by Dave Filoni, who playfully mispronounced a French Smurfs comic to come up with it.

The ship known as The Guillotine appears on screen for the first time, after being previously limited to concept art from the Clone Wars and appearances in recent comics and novels. Bounty hunter Embo is with his anooba companion, Keibu, a wolf-like creature – Keibu replaced Embo’s earlier anooba, Marrok, from the Clone Wars era. It’s important not to confuse this Marrok with the Imperial Inquisitor who shares the same name.

Embo and Keibu are a great match as physical opponents for Din Djarin and Grogu. However, they leave Nal Hutta once their clients are defeated, which leaves the door open for them to appear in future stories set during the New Republic era.

In addition to Embo, The Twins employed a droid army called the Gotra for protection on Nal Hutta. The Gotra began as a group of discarded Separatist droids after the Clone Wars. They grew into a major criminal organization, initially working for the Crymorah Syndicate, and later becoming allies with the Hutts.

The Droid Gotra make ideal adversaries for Din Djarin in The Mandalorian & Grogu, particularly given his established dislike of droids. This stems from a traumatic childhood experience: during the Clone Wars, Separatist battle droids killed his parents. Din was then rescued by the Death Watch and raised as a Mandalorian, further fueling his distrust.

The Mandalorian & Grogu is now playing in theaters from Lucasfilm.
