I have to say, people really underestimate The Deep, and that’s a mistake. He’s way more powerful than he lets on – he can breathe underwater, read minds, and he’s physically stronger and tougher than most. When he does decide to show off his power, it’s genuinely a little scary, honestly. The problem is, his goofy personality and, let’s be real, not-so-bright intelligence really prevent him from reaching his full potential. It’s frustrating to watch, actually!
23. Lamplighter
Played By Shawn Ashmore
Lamplighter was introduced in season two of The Boys as one of the former Supers we meet after they’ve retired from hero work. Despite being out of action, Lamplighter, played by Shawn Ashmore, repeatedly demonstrates his powerful abilities, proving he’s still a dangerous individual.
In the first season, viewers discover that Lamplighter, a former member of The Seven, quietly left the superhero group and disappeared from public view. Initially, all that’s known about him is his ability to control fire and that Starlight replaced him on the team. His story continues in season two when the main characters encounter him working as an orderly at Sage Grove Center, a hidden facility run by Vought.
Rather than allowing him to retire, Vought forces him to manage the subjects of Compound V experiments. His job is to destroy evidence of failed tests – he’s made to burn innocent patients until they’re gone. However, Lamplighter relies on an external flame source, hindering his ability to fully utilize his powers.
22. Translucent
Played By Alex Hassell
Within the story, Translucent has two key roles: he’s the first superhero the audience witnesses Butcher and the Boys eliminate, and he highlights how challenging it is to take down these super-powered individuals. The show also repeatedly emphasizes, through comments from other members of The Seven after his death, that he was exceptionally strong.
Translucent was an incredibly powerful and nearly invincible superhero with the abilities to become invisible, possess super strength, and withstand immense damage. He was one of the original members of The Seven, but the team known as ‘The Boys,’ led by Billy Butcher, discovered a method to defeat and ultimately kill him.
After a tough fight, Translucent was killed by the Boys. They discovered he was almost impossible to hurt from the outside, but vulnerable to attacks from within. This revealed that, despite being a powerful superhero, Translucent wasn’t invincible after all.
21. Cate Dunlap
Played By Cate Dunlap
Even though Cate Dunlap from Gen V doesn’t appear as physically strong as some of the other Superheroes in The Boys, she’s actually one of the most powerful characters on her show. Her abilities are similar to those of The Mesmerizer, and share some qualities with Mindstorm’s powers as well.
Cate is one of the most powerful Supers, not because she’s physically strong or tough, but because of the immense potential of her abilities. She used to study at God U and has the power to control other people’s minds. However, unlike someone like Mindstorm, Cate finds it difficult to fully control and consistently use her powers.
Cate needs physical contact to control someone’s mind, and using her powers tires her out, which keeps her abilities in check. Still, her ability to control and even kill someone through their own actions would make her a serious danger, even to someone as powerful as Homelander, if she could catch them off guard.
20. Cindy
Played By Ess Hodlmoser
Everything goes wrong for The Boys when they reach the Sage Grove Center, and they encounter a strange patient named Cindy. They don’t know if she’s dangerous, but Lamplighter, clearly frightened, attempts to soothe her. It’s soon revealed that Cindy has incredibly powerful telekinetic abilities.
She possesses incredible mental and physical power, demonstrated by her ability to tear down steel doors with her mind and incapacitate guards with a simple gesture. Furthermore, she seems nearly invulnerable, taking multiple gunshot wounds without showing any reaction.
So, after that brutal fight, Stormfront shows up and pretty much finishes the job with a lightning blast, but somehow, Cindy manages to survive and escapes by the skin of her teeth. We didn’t see her again until a quick appearance near the end of The Boys season 4. Honestly, when she reappeared in season 5, the fight was… surprisingly short. She went down way faster than I expected, which was a bit of a letdown after everything she’d been through.
Even though she has incredibly strong abilities, she doesn’t quite live up to her full potential, which is why she’s ranked a little lower than some people might think.
19. A-Train
Played By Jessie T. Usher
Super-fast heroes, often called ‘speedsters,’ are common in comic books, and the show The Boys is no exception. While several characters have this ability, A-Train stands out as the most well-known. Throughout the series, he consistently proves that his control over his speed makes him both incredibly fast and powerfully strong – one of the most formidable Supes around.
A-Train is famously the fastest person with powers in The Boys, which allowed him to join the Seven after replacing Mister Marathin. Despite being incredibly powerful, his speed mostly comes from using Compound V, not his natural abilities or training.
A-Train experiences a lot of turmoil throughout The Boys, even killing his girlfriend, Popclaw, when he discovers she betrayed him by leaking information to the titular group. While his heart condition causes a decline in his powers later on, A-Train ultimately proves his potential and finds redemption in season 5.
18. Starlight
Played By Erin Moriarty
When The Boys starts, Starlight is a rising superhero recruited by Vought International to replace the recently retired Lamplighter on The Seven. Originally known as Annie January, she grew up in a small town, raised by her single mother in a deeply religious family.
She can absorb and control electricity, and is also exceptionally strong and resilient. Though not necessarily the most powerful member of The Boys, she’s uniquely skilled at dealing with difficult experiences. While part of The Seven, she overcame a history of sexual assault, navigated the restrictions of a corporation, and reconciled her beliefs.
Starlight steps out of the shadows after standing up to Homelander and Vought, revealing herself as a powerful and intimidating hero. She becomes a beacon for others, sparking a resistance movement, and even masters the ability to fly. Though she may not always be physically stronger than her enemies, her inner strength leads to one of the most satisfying conclusions for a character in The Boys.
17. Black Noir
Played By Nathan Mitchell
Black Noir was consistently presented as one of the most powerful heroes in The Boys, and notably one of the few Homelander genuinely seemed to respect. While the show kept much of his past hidden until season 3, it significantly altered his origins from the comics, where he was originally revealed to be a clone of Homelander.
However, on the show, Black Noir is a former Payback teammate of Soldier Boy who suffered brain damage and abuse at the hands of his former leader. Despite his tragic backstory, he is still a skilled assassin and killing machine who served Vought loyally up until his death before being replaced by a much weaker alternative.
In the early seasons, Black Noir carried an aura and fear factor like few others in the show, as evidenced by his mission to track down Butcher in The Boys. Ultimately, he falls short of some of the show’s more versatile and powerful supes, but he was still a forced to be reckoned with.
16. Golden Boy
Played By Patrick Schwarzenegger
Golden Boy debuted in season three of The Boys and was initially presented as a potential successor to Homelander, both within the show’s storyline and through a smart marketing campaign by Amazon. While this turned out to be a misleading plot point, Golden Boy’s heartbreaking fate doesn’t diminish the fact that he possesses some of the most powerful abilities in The Boys universe.
Man, Golden Boy was amazing. He was basically the star student at God U – everyone looked up to him. And his powers? Totally off the charts! He could control fire, withstand explosions, and even fly! When he really got going, he was unbelievably strong and tough, like nothing could hurt him. He was a true hero!
Although he died early in the first episode of Gen V, Golden Boy was incredibly powerful. He wasn’t a major threat in later fights – Jordan Li wasn’t seriously hurt by him, and Sam managed to defeat him – but his abilities were so impressive that The Seven offered him a position on the team even before he finished his studies at God U.
