Knight shared that he’s been consulting with members of the Special Air Service (SAS) and people involved in secret operations. He wants to make the next James Bond film, Bond 26, as realistic as possible by incorporating how spies actually operate today and drawing inspiration from the original Ian Fleming novels.
Fleming’s time in World War II heavily shaped his James Bond novels. Before becoming an author, he served in British naval intelligence, working directly with military operations. According to Knight, understanding these real-life experiences and the people involved is crucial for reimagining Bond for today’s readers while staying true to the original books’ essence.
Knight also discussed the enduring appeal of James Bond. He noted that the character has successfully stayed current over the years by evolving with the times, which is probably why the franchise continues to thrive after more than six decades since the first film’s release in 1962. Bond has consistently adapted to connect with each new generation of viewers.
The James Bond film Dr. No starred Sean Connery as the iconic 007. The story follows Bond’s journey to Jamaica where he investigates the vanishing of a fellow agent. This leads him to discover the secret base of Dr. No (played by Joseph Wiseman), who is plotting to disrupt a US space launch. The movie also features performances by Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder and Jack Lord as Felix Leiter.
There is currently no release date for Bond 26.
