But I’ve been thinking, and there’s a way to bring the Winchesters back that’s even better – one that wouldn’t mess with the original series’ ending, and I’m really hoping someone considers it.

Sam and Dean Meet Scooby-Doo in the Greatest TV Crossover Ever

In Season 13 of Supernatural, the episode “Scoobynatural” was a real treat for fans of mystery shows. After dealing with a haunted toy, Sam and Dean bring a new TV home, unaware that something sinister is inside. When they turn it on, they’re unexpectedly pulled into the world of the show itself. Though confused, Dean is delighted to meet the talking dog Scooby-Doo and is even more excited about the possibility of going on a date with Daphne.

As a big fan of both Scooby-Doo and Supernatural, I thought this crossover was amazing! It wasn’t just a simple team-up; it was pure fun and a great escape. Seeing Sam and Dean get to play around in the wacky world of Scooby-Doo – with its crazy physics, driving the Mystery Machine, and, of course, hunting ghosts – was a total blast. It was exactly the kind of lighthearted adventure both shows’ fans could enjoy.

At the start of the episode “A Night of Fright is No Delight,” Dean is thrilled to revisit a cherished childhood memory. But their excitement turns to concern when they discover the ghosts are actually real, and they must help everyone deal with the frightening reality.

Similar to the playful ghost stories of the 1990s ‘Mook’ movies, this crossover episode explores what happens when the Mystery Inc. gang encounters actual ghosts. But it approaches the idea with a more mature and darkly humorous tone, focusing on how facing real danger and mortality affects the group. From the lasting impact of the trauma on Mystery Inc. to the hilarious dynamic between Shaggy, Scooby, and Castiel, this episode stands out as one of the funniest in either series.

Jared Padalecki Wanted a Scoobynatural Spin-Off

Jared Padalecki, who has loved Scooby-Doo his whole life, playfully suggested creating a whole season (22 episodes!) of the Scoobynatural episode after filming it. The idea really connected with fans, as many have been hoping for a new show that captures the spirit of the popular Mystery Incorporated. A full season crossover would have been a great way to deliver that.

Sam and Dean’s adventures on Supernatural created some of the most creative and enjoyable television episodes of the 2000s, and viewers were always eager for more. Looking back, many fans feel a season combining Supernatural with Scooby-Doo would have been a stronger direction than The Winchesters.
