Gameplay and Content Overview
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is an action-adventure game set in an open world. It tells a brand new story about Bruce Wayne’s journey to becoming Batman, starting with his initial training and showing how he ultimately became Gotham City’s main hero. Players can control characters like Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, Talia al Ghul, and Jim Gordon.
Let me tell you, stepping into this Gotham City is a real experience. It’s completely open to explore, and they’ve given you all the tools to do it – the grappling hook and glider are fantastic, and cruising around in the Batmobile or Batcycle is just as satisfying as you’d hope. It’s not just about the main story, though; the city is packed with side missions, little puzzles hidden in the environment, and plenty of collectibles for those who like to dig around. You’ll recognize iconic locations like Arkham Asylum and Wayne Tower, and the Batcave serves as your home base – a place to track your progress and customize all the cool gear you unlock. It really feels like being Batman.
The game features many classic Batman villains, including the Joker, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Bane, Ra’s al Ghul, and Firefly. Players will face these characters during main story missions, challenging boss fights, and while exploring the open world.
The game features a dynamic combat system focused on chaining attacks, well-timed defenses, and using gadgets. Each character you play as has their own distinct moves and powers, making every fight different. When you’re not battling, you’ll explore the city, complete story missions, tackle optional challenges, and hunt for collectibles. As you play, you’ll unlock tons of content – over 100 suits and outfits, more than 20 vehicles, and plenty of ways to customize the Batcave.
You can also play the game with a friend locally, working together to overcome challenges. By combining your characters’ unique skills, you can solve puzzles and finish missions as a team.

The LEGO Batman series consistently transforms Batman’s world into exciting, action-packed games that families can enjoy together. Over the last twenty years, TT Games has created many LEGO video games, including several based on Batman.
As a huge LEGO and Batman fan, I was so excited to hear they’re not just making a video game, but also new LEGO sets to go with it! And get this – some of the sets coming out in early 2026 will actually include codes you can use to unlock stuff in the Legacy of the Dark Knight game once it’s released.
