This is a minor detail compared to what I mentioned before, but I really want to highlight how much I enjoyed seeing Ms. Marvel team up with Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop. I’m excited about the possibility of them forming a new team – the New Avengers – especially because we don’t often see strong female friendships like that in these kinds of movies. Their brief appearances proved they were well-introduced in other films, and I’m hoping they all appear together in Secret Wars, or even Doomsday.

Blade Knight Stealing Every Scene Only Makes Me More Frustrated His Movie Is At A Stand Still

I was shocked and delighted to see a version of Blade in Marvel Zombies. I initially believed Mahershala Ali was voicing the character and that it was based on his likeness, but the voice acting was actually done by Todd Williams. Having Blade Knight appear in Marvel Zombies was a clever move, as it opens the possibility for Ali to officially take on the role in live-action someday.

I really enjoyed seeing him in this show – it honestly convinced me how awesome Blade will be when he finally joins the Avengers and the wider MCU in live-action. I didn’t know much about the character going in, but he just fit perfectly, and I was immediately hooked – I couldn’t get enough and wanted to see so much more!

I LOVE Scarlet Witch, But Man Is It Tough To Follow WandaVision

I’m a big Scarlet Witch fan. I’d even put her in the top five MCU characters, and I was definitely interested in seeing her as the villain in this story. But her appearance also brought back a thought I had when she returned in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness. WandaVision was just exceptionally well-done, and I think I need some distance from the character before she can have the same powerful effect she did in that TV series.

With Marvel Zombies, it struck me how easily her abilities can be used to rewrite events as if they never happened, and honestly, I couldn’t handle that kind of trickery from her in an Avengers film at this moment.

I’m More Excited For Shang-Chi To Come Back Than Ever

I enjoyed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings when it was released in 2021. Seeing Simu Liu reprise the role-this time as an animated character-reinforced my belief that he brings a special warmth and relatable quality to the Avengers. His appearance in Marvel Zombies further solidified my feeling that he’ll be a major, exciting addition to the team.

Similar to Kamala Khan, he’s a relatable character who unexpectedly found himself with great power and is learning what it means to be a hero. He feels like the kind of hero who can keep the more fantastical parts of the MCU connected to reality, and that will definitely be useful in the next Avengers films.

And, Yelena And Red Guardian Have Quickly Become The Heart Of The MCU For Me

Something else I noticed while watching Marvel Zombies is just how much emotional impact Yelena and Red Guardian still have within the MCU. They were the best part of Thunderbolts* for me, and they brought a lot of heart to this animated series through their connection, which affected the entire team dynamic. I’ve really gotten to know and like them, and I’ll be cheering for them in Doomsday.

Naturally, many characters featured in the Marvel Zombies comic won’t be in the 2026 Marvel film. However, this series helped me determine which heroes have impressed me the most, now that they’ve experienced something like a team effort.
